Anna Sadurni

Anna was born in Vilafranca del Penedès, Barcelona. She completed a BSc in Chemistry and an MSc in Organic Chemistry at the University of Barcelona (Spain) under the guidance of Dr. Paul Lloyd-Williams. In February 2014 she was awarded a collaboration grant with the Department of Organic Chemistry at the University of Barcelona. She is currently carrying out the first stages of her PhD in fluorine chemistry under the supervision of Professor Ryan Gilmour in the FLUORINE21 ITN. Outside the lab she enjoys practicing sports, especially rhythmic, theatre, cooking and travelling.

Project Title: The C-F Bond as a Molecular Tool in Carbohydrate Chemistry WP4-6

Project Objectives: Synthesis of fluorocarbohydrates by selective fluorination strategies; exploration of the stereoelectronic effects of fluorine substituents on subsequent glycosylation reactions; preparation of novel glycosylated natural products and proteins via both biological and chemical approaches.
